WHY DO I NEED TO HAVE MY JEWELLERY VALUED?
Most valuations are done for insurance purposes but you may also wish to have your jewellery valued for probate or legal reasons (for example, in the case of divorce), for the sale or disposal of your jewellery, or even just curiosity.
WHO WILL VALUE MY JEWELLERY?
Jewellery valuation is done by our experienced in-house diamond and jewellery experts with years of experience valuing various types of jewellery such as diamond engagement rings, earrings and bracelets; as well as designer jewellery from Cartier, Tiffany&Co, De Beers and more; and vintage family heirloom pieces. We have GIA Gemmological Institute of America trained diamond specialists ready to value almost any diamond or precious item of jewellery. One of our jewellery professionals will meet with you in person and value your jewellery with you present. In some occasions when an expert in a specific field is needed, we may need to arrange a second visit with the relevant expert, or we can keep the item for them to assess, or we may direct you to see them personally.
WHY DO VALUATIONS VARY?
Valuations vary due to the purpose of the valuation. Most valuations are done for insurance replacement purposes and the appraisal will reflect the full retail replacement value of your jewellery. Should your jewellery get lost or stolen, the appraisal ensures that we can provide you with a comparable item of similar quality as a replacement.
Valuation for insurance reflects the highest value of your item. If a valuation is done for the purpose of a private sale, the appraisal amount will be lower because it reflects the current realisable value that can be reasonably asked for the piece of jewellery from a private individual.

HOW DO I INSURE MY JEWELLERY?
We would recommend talking to your home contents insurer to ascertain whether the item can be added as a named item on your existing policy. If you do not have a contents policy or the item of jewellery cannot be added, you can contact one of our recommended insurers to purchase cover for your jewellery. Our trusted insurance partner TH March (www.thmarch.co.uk - jeweller reference AD154T) specialise in jewellery insurance and can offer you full cover at competitive prices. We recommend the item is fully covered against loss, theft and damage, however caused. Call us now for any questions or book an appointment to have your jewellery valued.
