Petra recovers 23.16 carat pink diamond
Petra diamonds Ltd have announced the recovery of a remarkable 23.16ct pink diamond from its Williamson mine in Tanzania.
The company have said this is the ‘most significant recovery’’ at the mine to date and that the diamond had ‘exceptional colour and clarity’; before going on to say “Pink diamonds are only found in a handful of mines throughout the world and their rarity ensures that they are one of the most highly coveted of all the fancy colours’.
Pink diamonds, as well as red, green and blue, are amongst the most rarely found fancy coloured diamonds.
The diamond will be put up for tender in Antwerp to be sold before the end of the year.
